Chart of accounts
How CoA templates work. Country packs, customisation, locking, and migration between templates.
The chart of accounts is never hardcoded. Each country pack (PK, AE, SA, GB, AU, NZ) ships one or more CoA templates shaped to local GAAP and tax requirements. When you install a country pack, you choose the template that matches your business — manufacturing, services, retail, non-profit — and the seed writes accounts into your tenant.
Once installed, accounts can be renamed, deactivated, or extended with children. The code prefix structure is preserved so reports continue to work. A core set of system-managed accounts — control accounts, tax payable, accumulated depreciation — are flagged and cannot be deleted, only deactivated.
Migrating between templates is a supported operation but requires a mapping step. The platform will not let you migrate unless every balance on the old template has a destination on the new one.
Lock dates on the CoA are separate from period locks. You can freeze structural changes without freezing the ability to post journal entries, which is useful during audit.
